Supervises and is directly responsible for all Civil Engineering and Surveying & Mapping Operations; negotiates Services Agreements; handles Client Relations and Represents clients in presentations of their projects before public Boards and Commissions.
Supervises and occasionally participates directly in field survey operations. Supervises and often personally performs office design and mapping operations, including CAD System operations.
Planning for and Development of Engineering Designs, Plans, Specifications, and Estimates, for water, sewer, drainage, and roadway infrastructure, pumping stations, water treatment plants, and various other facilities.
Responsible for the Business Operations and Management..
CIVIL ENGINEER: Morgan Eastlick, RCE #62963 (California)
Morgan came to our firm in January of 1998, with several years of experience in the building trades. A Scott Valley (Siskiyou County) native and resident, Morgan holds a BSCE degree from CSUC, Chico, (1993), and was issued his license to practice as a Professional Engineer in California in February, 2002.
Morgan has been increasingly involved in all of our major projects, for both public and private clients during the past 8 years, including the responsibilities of Resident Engineer and Project Engineer during the past 4 years. Morgan is currently handling the large majority of the City Engineer duties for the City of Etna.
Responsibilities:
Civil Engineering design, specifications writing, engineering computations and problem-solving, field surveying and mapping. Morgan performs most of the structural calculations that are done in our office.
Prepares construction specifications, engineering estimates, contractor payments and change orders, engineering project supervision and administration for public works construction.
Serves on field crew including instrument operations, corner search and recovery, and general field surveying operations.
Serves as Resident Engineer or Project Engineer for private and public works construction projects,
Assists principal in with public relations, telephone calls, correspondence, and client relations matters.
LAND SURVEYOR: Brian L. Smith, PLS #7979 (California)
Brian worked with us for more than 16 years, starting part-time in 1987 and full-time in 1989. Brian moved to the area from Southern California, and came to us with experience in Mechanical design and drafting. During his tenure with our firm, Brian completed an AS degree in engineering from the College of the Siskiyous and a Bachelor of Science in Geomatics from Oregon Institute of Technology, and has become licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of California. Brian is currently on a leave-of-absence through 2008, although assisting us on an occasional basis with land survey matters and field work.
Responsibilities:
Performs CAD System operations including design and drafting for Civil Engineering and Surveying & Mapping Operations; handles some of the telephone calls and client relations matters.
Operates GPS System.
Party Chief and Instrument man responsibilities on field survey crew.
Corner recovery and evidence evaluation for cadastral and property surveys. Assists Jim with Boundary Resolutions and mapping.
SECRETARY & BOOKKEEPER: Paula M. Bray (Full-time)
Paula, my wife of 36 years, worked in a clerical position at Plattsburgh State University in New York during 1967-68, then acquired a secretarial position with the 380th Civil Engineering Squadron at Plattsburgh AFB, NY, where we married in 1970. Paula's experience in that position included the typing of project specifications and maintenance of engineering department files.
Responsibilities:
Provides all secretarial, clerical, payroll and bookkeeping tasks for our operations; drafts boilerplate portions of Bid Documents; Assembles Contract Documents and Plan Sets; prepares Notices of Award; Notices of Completion, etc.; Proofreads letters and reports; Assists Jim with business operations and business management decisions, and with personnel-related matters.

SOFTWARE:
Engineering / CAD
We have 3 registered seats of Spectra-Precision's "TERRAMODEL" software. Terramodel is one of the leading Terrain-modelling and Earthwork tools, and is used for roadway and site grading designs, and for all of our Plans and Mapping. We are able to share electronic drawing files with users of Autocad and other systems.
Other software utilized in our engineering includes Corel Office v10 for word processing and spread- sheet calculation tasks, and various minor applications programs for structural calculations, incidental mapping tasks, and the like.
